Information on Pool and Spa Installation and Maintenance

How to Choose the Right Design for Your Site

Today there are an endless number of designs and configurations for your pool or waterscape. In choosing a style, remember that the pool should be considered an extension of your home. The first thing to consider is defining the pool’s purpose. Will it be used for exercise, entertaining, relaxation or all of these? Who will be using the pool? What are the physical constraints of the soil condition, landscape issues, maintenance and safety features? Will the pool be in the sun and protected from the wind? Swimming pools can be built in almost any size and shape imaginable. A free-form pool can be sculpted to your specifications, allowing you to incorporate surroundings such as rock formations, views and gardens. The interior of your pool will be an important factor in the overall appearance.

You can choose from a range of colors or special finishes for the interior of your shotcrete pool. The coping is the material that finishes the top of the pool wall. It may be pre-cast concrete, brick, stone or tile. One of the major decisions will be the kind of pool decking. A deck can be constructed of a variety of concrete, natural stone, brick or pavers. Stone decking provides a formal, yet natural, look that can be blended into a pool’s surroundings. In designing your pool, consider including a spa or water feature. Spas offer contoured seating and numerous massaging jets. Spas can be incorporated into the pool or raised to provide a water feature. Water features will add the sound of cascading water, providing a peaceful, calm setting to your pool area.
